I’ve tested dozens of espresso machines over the years, and I finally got my hands on the Ninja Luxe Cafe Premier. Wow, I have a lot to say. In this updated 2025 review, I’ll tell you about my honest experience, what I liked and what I didn’t, and whether this machine really lives up to the promise for home baristas. You should read this article before you buy, whether you’re new to espresso or a coffee nerd like me.

I was actually thrilled when the Ninja Luxe Cafe Espresso Machine arrived at my front door. As someone who’s unboxed dozens of machines, this one gave me the kind of excitement I usually reserve for higher-end machines. The container itself set the tone: elegant, well-padded, and shockingly lightweight for an espresso machine. Everything was organized inside molded inserts, making unpacking easy and satisfying.

What’s in the Box?

  1. The Ninja Luxe Cafe Espresso Machine
  2. 54mm portafilter with single and double-shot baskets
  3. Integrated frothing wand
  4. Water reservoir (removed)
  5. Ninja’s trademark scoop and tamper combo
  6. 2× Cleaning tablets and 1× descaling tablet
  7. Quick start guide and comprehensive user manual

Right away, I found the construction to be excellent. There was no weak plastic or budget-grade accessory here. The brushed stainless steel finish gave it a quality look and all components felt strong in the palm.

Four major operations are grinding beans, making espresso, making coffee and frothing the milk.

First Setup:

1) Clean and Get Everything Ready

Firstly, I washed all the pieces that come into the box with water. These are the tank, the drip tray, the portafilter, and the filter baskets. I learnt that I should never skip this step, even if they seemed clean. It’s worth doing to get rid of any factory leftovers.

I filled the tank with filtered water when it was clean. I don’t have a separate water filter, but I used bottled spring water, which seemed to work well with this machine.

2) Plug It In and Turn It On

It was easy to plug in and switch on the machine. There was just one button, and the lights blinked while it warmed up. Honestly, I was shocked that it took less than 10 minutes. My last one took around 10 to 15 minutes.

The machine lets you know when it’s ready to brew or steam. It was a tiny thing, but it made the first time using it go much more smoothly.

3) The First Blank Shot and the Steam Test

I ran a blank shot (just hot water) through the group head to warm everything up and get rid of any dust that could have been there. After that, I tried out the steam wand. In just a few seconds, a strong jet of steam was hissing out of the side.

The steam knob is really responsive, which I noticed right away. You can really change the pressure a little, which helped me obtain a better texture on my oat milk later that week.

First Brew Test – Espresso Dialling

Following a brief rinse and a water-only cycle, I got right to brewing. I choose the double-shot basket and used freshly ground medium-dark roast beans.

Brew Method

The grinder ran quietly and quickly. Ground dropped neatly into the portafilter. The built-in tamper felt solid and in line.

Surprisingly, the pre-infusion gradually soaked the coffee puck evenly before applying full pressure.

Pressure was constant, not as great as some high-end machines, but more than plenty for a rich draw.

With a 1:2 ratio, shot time came at roughly 25 seconds, right in the golden range.

Taste Test

A good crema coating complemented the taste. Though it lacked some bulk compared to my more costly devices, bright notes came through really nicely. Still, given its price range, the extraction was good.

Frothing & Milk Steaming

Now to the milk game, which might ruin a latte machine.

Under thirty seconds, the steam wand of the Ninja Luxe Cafe heated enough to produce velvety microfoam using 2% whole milk. Although it wasn’t as strong as a dual boiler, it was just right for domestic use.

– Perfect for lattes and cappuccinos

– Good control for whirling and stretching

– Not best for big milk quantities (a little slow).

A big benefit is that it cleaned readily as well.

Nuova Simonelli Appia Review

How to Clean the Ninja Luxe Cafe Premier?

Cleaning the Ninja Luxe Cafe Premier isn’t just something you have to do; it’s really part of the full coffee experience. It’s like letting your machine take a break after making coffee for you all day.

No chemicals, no hard steps. A few minutes of careful maintenance keeps my machine happy and makes sure that every cup tastes just right. Clean, rich, and not bitter as it was yesterday.

Here is how I clean my Ninja Luxe Cafe espresso:

1) Clear Out the Used Coffee Grounds

I twist the portafilter out and gently knock the puck into the knock box. Most of the time, it comes out clean. If it’s a little damp, I just tap it a few more times. I always rinse the basket with warm water and run my finger along the edges to get rid of any fine grounds that are stuck there.

I don’t just rinse it off and throw it back; I dry it off quickly with a clean towel.

2) Flush the Group Head

Never miss this. I push the brew button for a few seconds after taking the portafilter off. The hot water spray clears away any coffee oils or microscopic particles that could still be caught in the screen. It feels pleasant, like washing your hands after a long day of labour.

3) Clean the Steam Wand right away!

I always clean the steam wand shortly after I’ve steamed the milk. I keep a wet cloth next to the machine just for this. I first do a short purge by turning the steam knob and letting it hiss for a second. Then I wrap the cloth over it and twist off any milk residue. The wand is bright again. No crusty buildup. and no more scent of burnt milk.

4) Take Off the Drip Tray and Clean it Out

It’s easy to forget this step, but it’s one of the most important step. I carefully pull the drip tray out because it can be fuller than I think it is. I throw it away, rinse it with hot water, and then quickly clean it down with a sponge.

5) Clean the Water Tank

I pick up the water tank and carry it to the sink, where I give it a good rinse. If there is any film on the bottom (which can happen when minerals build up), I scrub it with a gentle bottle brush and then rinse it a few more times. Before snapping it back into place, I dry the base with a towel.

6) Clean the Shower Screen and the Group Area

Every few days, I use a small brush that came with the machine to clean the shower screen where the hot water comes out. I never knew how much coffee oil got up there until I saw it on the bristles.

I also lightly brush around the rubber gasket, which is where the portafilter locks in. It’s a simple thing, but it helps to keep everything perfect.

7) One Last Wipe Down

I always end by wiping the top of the machine, the drip tray, and the knobs with a soft cloth. Just enough to make it look like it just came out of the store.
